Infocom Security Live

SecNews, as a communications sponsor, attended and broadcasted visual material through Infocom Security.

The 5th Infocom Security 2015 takes place at the Divani Caravel Hotel today from 9.30 in the morning until 18.30 in the afternoon.

It is evident that the participation of the delegates was massive with almost double the attendance from the past, perhaps we would dare to say the largest that has been seen at similar specialized conferences in recent years but also at Infocom Security in general. The sponsors' stands had a particularly high traffic of people who were informed about the latest developments in products and services.

There were, of course, some negative reports from a limited number of attendees regarding the commercialism that many companies displayed in their presentations and the fact that they expected more specialized presentations, targeted at the essence of security and with a higher technical background. The organizers will certainly take this into account in the next event so that an otherwise excellent conference becomes even more excellent.

Among the presentations, we particularly liked the presentation by Elias Chantzos of Symantec ("The report on the state of privacy in Europe. The implications of privacy protection for consumers and businesses"), as well as that of ENISA researcher Dr. Louis Marinos regarding the cyberattack landscape for 2015.

We expect to see with particular interest the presentation by Konstantinos Philis of Cosmote on the NEMESYS research project, as well as the presentation of FireEye by Jason Steer.

For the first time, the relevant Workshops of the conference were also interesting. The way the subject was approached, beyond the trivial, was impressive, as was the Workshop of Cisco (Advanced Malware Protection and Indication of Compromise), as well as Odyssey (ClearSkies Version 5).

The sponsors of the conference were also important. Among them we can distinguish the company Encode, Checkpoint, OTE and Cosmote, Adacom, Cisco, Space and Odyssey Consulting. The full list of sponsors is presented [here]
