Imagine Cup, Microsoft, encourages students from all over the world to develop innovative applications, while competing for international recognition and significant prizes. For the 13th consecutive year, interested young people over the age of 16 can visit the competition page www.imaginecup.com and register to participate.
Participants, as every year, will have the opportunity to compete in three main categories, which aim to showcase their abilities with the help of the most modern technologies. Students and university students can register to participate in whichever category suits them best:
-Innovation: This competition highlights the most pioneering and innovative applications, which have been developed with the most modern technologies and the most advanced Microsoft.
-Games: It is aimed at lovers of Game Development. Participants will have the opportunity to stand out by designing a game on their favorite platform Windows (PC or touch screen), Windows Phone or Kinect SDK. In 2014, the game Dementia by the Greek team Genesis Game Studios was recognized among the ten best worldwide.
-World Citizenship: A unique opportunity for those who want to change the world with the help of technology. Participants will be evaluated based on the potential impact their application could have in solving the biggest problems humanity faces today.
This year, the prize money that the top winners of the global finals will claim exceeds $750,000.
The Greek finals in the categories Game, World Citizenship and Innovation will be held on April 23 2015, at the Microsoft Greece offices. Interested parties must have registered at www.imaginecup.com by April 1 and then submit the demos/prototypes of their proposals, as well as their participation application by April 10 to icgr@microsoft.com.
Through this process, the best teams will be selected, which will qualify for the Greek finals. There, three winning teams (one from each category) will be announced, which will have the opportunity to compete in the global semifinals, which will take place in May 2015. More than 35 teams from around the world that will participate in the semifinals will qualify for the global finals, which will be held at the end of July 2015, at Microsoft's headquarters in Seattle, United States.
