Qualcomm , known for its mobile processors, is preparing an anti-theft solution, SafeSwitch. SafeSwitch is integrated into the device's hardware .
Besides, Microsoft and Google announced about 6 months ago that they would add a Kill Switch feature to their mobile operating systems so that any stolen smartphone would be rendered unusable. The SafeSwitch solution shows that it could be better.
With thefts on the rise, companies need to find ways to safeguard user data when it falls into the wrong hands.
With SafeSwitch technology , it is possible to find, lock, erase and recover data remotely, while it can identify and prevent firmware changes.
The first processor to support SafeSwitch is theSnapdragon 810 , which will soon appear in many flagships.
However, this technology also has its downside , as both mobile phone providers and governments will be able to access the device.
