A fake message purporting to be from the Ministry of Finance with the subject of "Tax Refund" and reference to the amount appears to be circulating from mailbox to mailbox these days. A tech.in.gr contributor received the convincing phishing message for credit card details and we present it to you.

The message appears to be sent from “Tax Refund” and its body states that the recipient has a tax refund from the Ministry of Finance, while referring to an obscure website “to receive your tax refund,” specifically mentioning the amount of 452.30 euros in the subject line of the e-mail.
When the user clicks on the text of the reference, he is taken to a fake website that appears to be that of the General Secretariat of Information Systems. There, it is stated in red letters and ambiguous and bad use of the Greek language that “the user will return the amount paid”, and by confirming credit card details, even filling in the three-digit security code, “the money will be credited” to his account. The “button” reads “Get Tax” and the address from which it comes is not that of the General Secretariat of Information Systems, but telas.by (an address belonging to a roofing company in Russia).

From the misuse of language, which resulted from the obvious attempt to adapt a fake message to various languages, depending on the country, but also from the address, it is clear that this is a phishing message.
It is noted that no Organization or Body requests information (such as credit card numbers, etc.) via email. The Cybercrime Unit accepts relevant complaints at the address ccu @ cybercrimeunit . gov . gr or at the telephone numbers 11012 and 210-6476464.
