A new Apple patent has come to light after being approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office, as the company wants to protect iPhones from falls by making them spin in the air before they hit the ground, so they don't fall face down.
As reported by epcmag.gr, the new patent concerns a protective mechanism that exploits all of the iPhone's sensors (acceleration sensor, gyroscope) and then, with the help of a processor, all the adjustments that need to be made are immediately calculated, giving the vibration system the appropriate commands to control the movement of the smartphone in the air - to rotate it if necessary - and ultimately land on the ground with the surface that is less fragile and safer.
Many have likened this to a cat falling from a great height, which has the innate ability to land in the best possible way when falling from somewhere so as not to be injured.
Whether it will be applied to any future device remains unknown, as in many cases, companies file patents to protect their intellectual property and not because they intend to use them in a consumer product.
