Greeks spend more than two hours a day on the Internet

As revealed by Focus Bari's ongoing nationwide Web ID survey, the average daily duration of Internet is 136 minutes and reaches 174 among those aged 18-24.

Men spend more time online (142 minutes) and women spend less (130 minutes). Internet penetration among 13-74 year olds reaches 69.8%, counting 4,787,000 active users. In fact, 61.7% of those who have access say they have a daily online presence. The relevant percentages range from 13 to 34 years old to over 80%.

In fact, among teenagers (13-17) 97.3% are estimated to have access to the Internet, while nine out of ten (87.2%) connect daily. Among those aged 45-54, the corresponding percentages are limited to 66.2% and 56.1%, and fall to 16.3% and 11.7% among those aged 65 to 74.

It is also striking that some children acquire their first mobile phone as young as seven years old. Two in ten children aged 7 to 12 have a mobile phone, while at the age of 10-12 the ratio rises to one in three. The rates of Internet access and PCIt is estimated that eight in ten children have access to the Internet and nine in ten use a computer. Six in ten use it daily and five in ten connect to the Internet at least once a day. The primary reasons for children using the Internet are online gaming, listening to and downloading songs and watching videos.

Regarding the habits of teenagers and adults in the world of social media, it is determined that the time we spend daily reaches 81.4 minutes, with most using social networking services almost six days a week. Overall, one in two Greeks uses social media, with half of them belonging to the 13-34 age group.

Facebook is by far the most popular social media platform among Greeks aged 13 to 74, with 47.6%, or more than 3.2 million, having a personal account on the world's most popular service. It is followed by YouTube (8.1%), Google+ (7.7%), Twitter (6.3%), LinkedIn (4.9%) and Instagram (2.7%).
