The 30-year-old co-founder of the Pirate Bay, Gottfrid Warg, was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison after being found guilty of hacking into the computer systems of Danish IT company CSC, the Danish registry office and the police criminal register in 2012.
According to his accusers, this is "Denmark's largest hacking case," while the verdict of the Frederiksberg Court speaks of a systematic and persistent attack, which lasted for a long time and resulted in the interception of "extremely sensitive" personal data.
Warg's accomplice, a 21-year-old Dane who has managed to remain anonymous, was sentenced to 6 months in prison, having already been in custody for 17 months before his trial. Warg has also been in custody in Denmark since November 2013.
It should be noted that Warg's latest conviction is the 5th in a row in the last 5 years.
