However, the Ambulance Drone is different, as it is a flying drone that carries a specially designed defibrillator , a very useful medical tool that can bring patients who have suffered a heart attack back to life .
In the event of a severe heart attack, even the seconds that pass are very critical for the patient's survival. The Ambulance Drone, which is the creation of Alec Momont, a graduate of the Dutch University of Delft, is a high-tech device that has been built to minimize the reaction time required for medical services to reach the patient's location.
Every year, an estimated 800,000 Europeans fall victim to heart attacks. Of these, only 8% manage to survive, and this is because health services take a significant amount of time to reach the patient.
According to medical data, a patient has just minutes to recover, as if medical personnel do not act immediately, within just six minutes after the event, they can suffer irreversible brain damage. According to its creator, the Ambulance Drone was created to prevent such incidents, as it can cover an area of 12 square kilometers in just one minute, thus increasing the patient's chances of survival to 80%.
Alec Momont's original idea is still in the experimental stage and is a few years away from being approved by the Dutch medical authorities and being able to fly, as it is known that a lot of bureaucracy for such a thing to happen. However, the creator of the Ambulance Drone himself appears optimistic and estimates that his creation will be able to save lives in five years from now.
