The Mozilla Foundation is preparing surprises. The new beta of the Firefox browser will allow users to make video calls across the web, without the need for any additional software or plugin.firefox beta Firefox
The Firefox Hello feature was announced today and has been created in collaboration with Telefonica (a strong supporter of Firefox OS mobile phones) and uses WebRTC technology.
“Firefox Hello makes it easy to communicate between friends and family who don’t have the same video chat service, software or hardware. It makes free voice and video calls and doesn’t require you to download any software, plugins or create an account,” Telefonica says.
The feature is scheduled to roll out “in the coming weeks” and will allow users to connect with someone else who has a WebRTC enabled browser (such as Firefox, Opera, or Chrome).
