Several months ago Silent Circle and Geeksphone announced the Blackphone, the first high-end smartphone focused primarily on protecting user privacy and security.
The Blackphone has generated great interest, as it promises users a secure and worry-free experience, which most mobile devices today cannot offer, due to the various vulnerabilities they contain.
The Blackphone, which effectively blocks user tracking and ensures their safety, runs on PrivatOS, a modified version of Android, enriched with a series of applications for privacy protection.
After the success of the Blackphone comes the Blacktablet
Speaking to the BBC, Jon Callas, co-founder of Silent Circle, said that “we’re going to have a tablet very soon.” Callas also hinted that alternative versions of the Blackphone are in the works, which would also offer encrypted calls, text messages, and additional protection when browsing the web.
The tablet will be built in the style of a smartphone and will only offer access to a limited number of applications that are considered secure. As for the tablet's technical specifications, no additional details have been revealed at this time, and the device is believed to be still in the experimental stage.
