Microsoft introduced a preview of the new Windows 10 last week, but stated that the Start menu, the revamped search function, and the multiple desktop surfaces feature accounted for only 10 percent of what users will have available to them in the final release of the operating system. One of the changes may be an updated Windows Store that will provide access to something extra, beyond the modern apps.
The revamped Windows 10 Store service, which is very likely to appear in a future beta release of the operating system, will be faster and will also provide a range of services for businesses.
A blog post reveals:
“Windows Store will also support more than modern apps. Desktop apps will be added, as well as other types of digital content. We will provide many different payment methods for the apps. And we will provide in the public Windows Store an online store for organizations and businesses, where an organization can create its own list of apps, as well as specific line-of-business apps used by its employees, ”
Microsoft removed this post very quickly and although the company probably wanted to spark discussion about the changes that will be applied to Windows 10, the removal of the post shows that some details of the new Windows Store have not yet been finalized.
The company, however, is expected to provide a preview of the new Store that will be included in upcoming Windows 10 updates, but it is not yet clear when this will happen. The full version of Windows 10 is likely to be released in the spring of 2015, so the new Store will be ready by then.
