The average smartphone user now uses their device more than 1,500 times a day, starting at 7:30 a.m., according to a new British study. Many users check their email and Facebook, read the latest news or check the weather before they even get out of bed, with the phone still in their eye.
As reported by AMPE, the survey conducted by the marketing company Tecmark on a representative sample of 2,000 users, according to the British "Daily Mail", reveals that the average user uses their mobile phone for three hours and 16 minutes a day, that is, a total of about an entire day during the week.
Almost four in ten users admit that they feel lost without their mobile phone, and many said they use their mobile phone so instinctively that they don't even realize they're doing it. Two in three said they've managed to "log into Facebook without even thinking.".
The modern person's dependence on mobile phones is constantly growing, as, according to research, the typical user uses them to perform 221 different tasks during the day, from online shopping and online banking to surfing the Internet and playing games. In comparison, on their traditional desktop or laptop computer, users perform fewer tasks (140) per day on average.
For most users, using their smartphone in the morning is simply a matter of convenience, since it is next to their bed and they do not need to wait until their computer turns on. However, one application that users use equally on their mobile phones and computers (on average four times a day) is the use of digital maps.
