The Athens Founder Institute, the largest training program for entrepreneurs and startups worldwide, has completed the first cycle of its program in Athens and is awarding six graduates, while the dynamic continuation of the program with the second cycle is expected in January 2015.
In Greece, the program first started in March 2014 and ended in September with a total duration of 14 weeks.
During this time, potential founders had the opportunity to shape and develop their ideas into a business plan, study the market and competition according to their industry, as well as receive guidance and advice from established market executives and entrepreneurs.
Six of the participants managed to move on to the final phase of the intensive program, took full advantage of the tools and knowledge they received and proceeded to establish their own new innovative businesses.
The companies founded are:
Allcancode – Kostas Karolemeas
Allcancode makes adventure games that teach the "art" of programming and, by extension, computational thinking. Players control the game's characters by composing instructions in a visual programming language. Its first game is called "Run Marco" and is designed specifically for elementary school students.
Enter Art – Christiana Chiaranagontaki
Enter Art's ultimate goal is to become a reference point for contemporary art lovers, where users will be able to browse and purchase electronic artworks from young and emerging artists from around the world, virtually visit international exhibitions from their homes, view and interact with online contemporary art exhibitions, and access selected content curated by Enter Art's international team of experts.
Girapp – Lia Zorzou
Girapp is a mobile app that will offer personalized, last-minute recommendations for events to attend. The recommendations will be provided to both locals and travelers based on their interests and hobbies, allowing them to make their reservations in two easy steps.
Modernizor – Dimitris Schoretsianitis
Modernizor is an online art gallery that uses lesser-known artworks from the past as initial visuals and transforms them into contemporary works with the help of a team of experienced graphic designers. Modernizor then applies the “modernized” visuals to a wide variety of surfaces and materials (from prints and canvases to pillowcases or plexiglass) and makes them available in its online store.
My eTutor – Athanasios Ladopoulos
My eTutor offers a cutting-edge e-learning platform for students. The platform combines advanced learning technologies with specialized teachers, making teaching more effective and adapting it to the needs of each student, thus significantly increasing their learning abilities and facilitating their success in exams.
Villosophy – George Zachartzis
Villosophy uses mobile technology to help vacation rental property owners improve their guest experience and increase their profitability. The company offers the tools property owners and managers need to coordinate bookings across multiple channels while staying focused on their guests’ needs, and allows them to effectively manage their guests’ stay experience.
