Google said it will offer unlimited storage for students in its education-related apps.
The company announced via blog post that it will release a series of updates to its Education Apps, which will include unlimited storage for students with accounts on the service.
Additionally, it said it will introduce a Drive for Education service in the coming weeks. The service will offer both unlimited storage and an individual file size limit of 5TB across all apps for Education accounts.
Finally, it plans to add tools for educators and administrators. Google said it will upgrade the service's API and, by the end of the year, will release a free version of Google Apps Vault.
Google released a similar update in June for its Drive for Work service. The upgrade cost $10 per month. The company said all upgrades to current education apps will be free, though schools will need to register an organizational account with the service before teachers and students can activate their accounts.
