Facebook has been blocking accounts belonging to drag artists since last Wednesday, since, as the company claims, these profiles do not comply with the policy rules regarding the use of real information.
According to the spokesperson for the popular social media platform: “This step was taken to bring users in line with the company and its 'real name policy' which stipulates that individuals use their real identities, giving their real names, so that you always know who you are connecting with.
The goal is to keep society safe.” Several drag artists are reacting to this development. Some have even started collecting signatures, in an effort to “persuade” Facebook to review its policy.
