Since last May, 60,000 fake accounts have opened in the Islamic State – The 27,000th was created after the beheading of Foley

Aside from the actual war on the ground in Iraq, the jihadists of the Islamic State appear to be conducting a second – electronic this time – «war» via Twitter.

According to a SkyNews investigation from last May, more than 60,000 accounts friendly to the IS have appeared, 27,000 of which showed up after August 20, when, namely, the first American journalist, James Foley, was beheaded.

It is impressive, also, that according to the research of the British news network, on Tuesday night 10% of the reports on the decapitation of Steven Sotlof, the second American journalist who was a hostage of the jihadis, were positive.

Indeed the jihadis «respond» to Twitter’s decision to deactivate every account that posts creepy photos or calls for violent acts, creating a new account for each one that gets shut down.

In order to boost, indeed, their presence in the Twitter world, pro-Islamic State accounts feed each other and promote one another.

SkyNews spoke with a Twitter user who promotes ISIS views, who said he is 19 years old, lives in a Western European country, and claimed that he started his activity «to support the mujahideen through activism».
