Google wants to build its own quantum computer

In collaboration with UCSB researchers, Google wants to build its own quantum computer, with the research being undertaken by the Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab.

Google's D-Wave quantum computer

The UCSB team of researchers and their professor in charge, John Martinis , are part of Google 's Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab , which was created about a year ago in collaboration with NASA and USRA .

The UCSB team has managed to create Xmons, which are qubits cooled to a level where there is no electrical resistance and magnetic interference. The Xmons can be placed in series, allowing them to communicate with each other, with a positive impact on computing power and more.

Finally, Google will continue to experiment with the Vesuvius at NASA's Ames Research Center, which will be upgraded with the 1000-qubit Washington.
