A "thorn" in app stores are fake apps, which use icons and names of well-known apps to confuse the user.
Due to the large number of misleading apps, Microsoft decided that the name of the app should be clear and identify its function.
Also, apps will be placed into various categories depending on their type, while those that use icons that resemble other popular apps will be removed.
Microsoft says it has removed 1,500 appsand plans to compensate users who paid to purchase them.
In the coming weeks, the company will contact several of the creators of similar applications in order to change the name and icon of their programs, so as not to raise any copyright issues.
