The rumors were true. Apple has finally started sending out invites for a press conference on September 9th, where it will likely announce the next iPhones. The company is also expected to unveil its long-awaited wearable next month, so it's possible we could see both events on the same day.
As we mentioned earlier, the invitations have just been sent out to the press. There's not much to see beyond a mysterious: "Wish we could say more."
Rumors suggest that the next iPhone will come in two sizes. One model will have a 4.7-inch display, while the other will have a 5.5-inch display. The current iPhone 5S has a 4-inch display (we mention this for comparison purposes). We know that it will run iOS 8 , and we're waiting to see it in action.
