John McAfee, the former chairman and founder of the eponymous antivirus software company, made a surprise appearance at the hacking conference last Friday, introducing a new website aimed at people looking for solutions to their problems.
McAfee (who fled Belize in 2012 when police tried to question him over the murder of a neighbor) said the website is aimed at ordinary people who want to file complaints about government corruption, companies and consumer products, or anything else that concerns them.
The website is called BrownList (www.brownlist.com) and carries the slogan “It’s time for revenge.”.
“Turn your anger into something positive,” McAfee in his speech at Def Con. “Instead of getting angry and shooting someone on the highway, or yelling at your wife, you can log on to the site.”
BrownList is essentially a forum where users can submit complaints, providing videos or other evidence related to them.
McAfee will then contact the company or government concerned about the issue. If there is no response within 24 hours, the complaints will be posted on the website. Readers will also be able to suggest solutions to other users' problems and vote for the best answers.
McAfee said he is looking for more investors to fund the website and plans to make money by offering subscription services to businesses, but he declined to expand further.
