The Cyberkid application developed by the Hellenic Police is experiencing great success.

Just a few days after its official first application for smartphones & tablets, Cyberkid is already in the top positions in the App store (No. 21) in the News category and in the Play Store (No. 43) in the New Applications category.

At the same time, during the same period, traffic to the site www.cyberkid.gr increased by 300%. This fact demonstrates not only the usability of the application, but also the constant need of parents and children for valid information on issues related to the safe use of the internet.

In particular, Cyberkid stands out for its innovative - not only at a European level but also worldwide - SOS - Cyber Alert Line, which enables children to communicate directly (touchscreen call) and in real time with the Cybercrime Operations Center, with the primary purpose of ensuring the physical integrity of children, as well as any event that has to do with danger or threat to their lives.

The application was developed within the framework of the www.cyberkid.gr of the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police Headquarters, which is implemented by the Cybercrime Prosecution of the Hellenic Police with the sponsorship of WIND.

"The new generations are rapidly developing digital intelligence and culture as they grow up surrounded by technology. The mobile phone and the internet are part of their lives from a young age and we need institutional initiatives such as the site www.cyberkid.gr and the cyberkid App so that they are educated to utilize technology in a positive way," said George Tsaprounis, director of corporate relations at WIND Hellas on the sidelines of an event to present the new application to online media representatives.

Greece is closely following the international trend of continuous growth in sales of smartphones, smart mobile devices that offer direct access to the internet as well as a multitude of informative, practical and entertainment applications. Every year, it is estimated that more than 1.5 million smartphones are sold in our country, now having the lion's share in total mobile device sales. The increase in smartphone penetration has also led to a large increase in mobile internet use by consumers. At WIND, within a year there was an almost 70% increase in mobile internet use per customer and now WIND subscribers consume an average of half a GB each month mainly to send emails and log into Facebook from their mobile but also to be entertained, as approximately 40% of the use concerns games played on their device.
