For one night's stay, it took four or five phone calls and a visit to the bank to deposit the deposit.
It was after a similar adventure in the summer of 2012 that Nikos Anagnostou was inspired to create Discoveroom. "It wasn't just that I was finding different prices on Booking (ed. site for online hotel reservations) and on the pages of the units themselves, it was the painstaking process," he tells "K". “I started thinking about how room owners could know availability at any time and at the same time consumers could find all the information in one place.”
That’s how Discoveroom was launched last October, a free mobile and computer application for the large market of rental rooms, guesthouses and small hotel accommodations in general. Already, more than 350 owners have registered with the system, allowing them to easily manage their reservations from anywhere. “Small hotel owners very often don’t know how to organize their work online or they think they’ll have to invest a lot in IT,” explains Mr. Anagnostou. “This application allows them to do it simply and for free.”
In about a month, Discoveroom will also function as a database of small units across the country.
