Dear Fimotro,
I would like to touch on the very important educational issue, which concerns the abolition of computer science from the basic subjects examined in the 3rd grade of high school, according to the new High School, as dreamed of by former Minister Arvanitopoulos, as well as his advisors Glavas and Laskaris.
In Greece in 2014, students who will target schools of Computer Science, Sciences, and Engineering (95 in total, the departments I mentioned above), WILL NOT BE EXAMINED IN PROGRAMMING, but in chemistry!!!!
Mr. Arvanitopoulos wrote the announcements of the university departments on his oldest shoes and returned the educational system to the antiquated system of ties of the 80s.
At a time when computer science is being upgraded in all schools worldwide (HOUR OF CODE), Greece chooses to present this autonomous science as a skill!
The argument that the subject is not an exam but was included as a general education subject can only cause laughter. At least to those who know what general education means. It means complete disrespect. It means the child's time. No one calculates it! I wonder which of you managed to get a Lower or a Proficiency from the English you learned at school? NO ONE! They were also general education.
Mr. Arvanitopoulos also ignored the inquiries of MPs on this issue such as Mr. Kourakis, Mrs. Xoulidou, Mr. Kollias (MP ND!!!), Mrs. Batsara (also ND), Karaoglou, Vosenberg, Avgenakis, etc.
An article was recently published in the British GUARDIAN, which unfortunately did not receive the media coverage it deserves. Perhaps our industry does not have the appropriate access, as it seems.
I am giving you the link here....
I would therefore ask you to show due attention and interest in the above matter.
Computer science is not a skill but an autonomous science!
