The times when we all surfed the internet with Microsoft Internet Explorer are over, not only in Greece but throughout the world.
The entry of Mozilla Firefox gave it the lead for a few years, until the public became aware of Google Chrome and it fought with it for the lead.
With the introduction of mobile phones into the... internet game, Safari, Apple's browser, also entered the game, due to the company's large and rapid penetration of the market with iPhones.
In 2008, Internet Explorer held 90% of the domain, while now it does not even hold the majority of internet users.
In the overall market, Google Chrome is in first place, with a 31.8% share. However, it is noted that this percentage also includes smartphones that access the internet via the Android operating system.
Explorer gains a small lead on desktops due to the default settings that include it in Windows. However, it still only holds 43.3% of the market, compared to 30.6% for Google Chrome and 12.5% for Firefox.
Safari wins on mobile, with 59.1%.
