If you're among the millions of users who installed the former, and the tens of thousands who installed the latter, then you've probably noticed that your Android device's "behavior" wasn't the same. It was getting hotter.
It had issues with lag and lag while the battery was draining faster. Data usage was also higher than ever, but on the surface, everything seemed normal. It seemed so, because in reality, the creators of the above applications had turned your Android device into a “slave” cryptocurrency mining machine!
According to what was revealed, when users of the above applications put their devices on charge, the above applications “woke up” and started the process of “mining” cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoins, Litecoins and Dogecoins. As you may know, the process requires enormous processing power from a computer.
Nevertheless, the combination of thousands of such devices can yield some results - albeit at a very slow pace - and this was the thinking of their creators.
The actions of these specific applications were revealed by the security company Trend Micro. Veo Zhang of Trend Micro stated in this regard, "Users will notice the strange behavior of the 'mining machines' relatively immediately - charging is slow, phones heat up excessively, so their existence does not go unnoticed.".
