How long have we been hearing about Apple's iWatch ? And how long have we NOT seen it. With wearables being a category of devices that most people now agree will shape our relationship with technology and its products in the near future , there are many "voices" that no longer hesitate to speak clearly about Apple's tardiness in this particular area, which may cost it seriously . Where is the iWatch? And perhaps, finally, the belief that Apple will achieve with it exactly what it did with the iPod, iPhone or iPad - that is, to take off a category in a unique way before anyone else makes a difference- has begun to be shattered by developments.

Some are now very "hard" on Cupertino. Like Global Equities analyst Trip Chowdry , who spoke to CNBC with harsh words about Apple, and the iWatch.
“Apple has only 60 days to either deliver or disappear. It may take many years for Apple’s $130 billion in cash to disappear, but if the iWatch doesn’t come out soon, it will become a zombie, a company that no longer makes a difference.”.
We don't know if you find Chowdry's position harsh and excessive , the fact is, however, that, taking as an example the topicality of the issue, we can say that the iWatch is perhaps ultimately for the American company that "key product" that will make (or not make) the difference. Apple is at a critical "crossroads" , as, after all, are the technological developments of the time. The new "challenges" want wearables to be the "next big thing" of the next period and Cupertino is called upon not only to participate in them, but, once again, to star. In the post-Steve Jobs era, however, some doubt that it can succeed. And some others are simply holding back, until they see something tangible...
At the beginning of the topic, we mentioned the case studies of the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad, which have shown, one after the other, that Apple had in the past a way to make a difference in each category. With marketing that should be taught in relevant schools, a unique view of innovation , but also products that had the way of taking off entire product categories and making people love them and competitors be inspired by them, Jobs and his colleagues have managed to keep the “myth” of Apple alive to this day. As well as the devotion of consumers to their products, which is acknowledged even by the part of the public that disagrees with the company’s philosophy , its ecosystem , but also the way it approaches consumers with its devices.
In the case of wearables and the iWatch, however, some already believe that Apple is late and the margins to repeat the successes of the past have narrowed considerably. The recent announcement of Android Wear, Google's specially adapted operating system for wearables, as well as the first "samples" of what products it can support (see the incredible Moto 360 and the smart LG G Watch) may be the "whistle" of a train approaching the station, picking up the people and leaving with it ahead, ready for other challenges...
With many arguing that wearables and smartwatches are now entering the era where they can really make a difference, with Google leading the way, Apple has a short window of time to prove that it can give its own answer, in the way it knows how.. And with this answer, surprise the public once again or simply “lose” the critical opportunity, in the same way that other major manufacturers have missed opportunities to star in emerging markets in the past and… are still running to catch up. The coming months will show what it will achieve and we will simply wait and watch the developments.
