The transition of users from Windows XP to a newer operating system is clearly a significant challenge for Microsoft, as it turns out that many users are not yet ready to abandon their beloved operating system.
According to data from StatCounter, Windows XP currently powers 7.8 percent of computers in Australia, compared with 12.4 percent in the United States and 9.5 percent in the United Kingdom.
"Australian computer users deserve praise for moving faster than the rest of the world in saying goodbye to Windows XP," said Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter.
Windows XP still powers 29% of computers worldwide, but it's pretty clear that major markets are quickly moving to other operating systems, including Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
As for Australia, 51.9% of users are still running Windows 7, while 8.7% are using Windows 8.
