Internet security company CloudFlare faced the largest DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack in history on Monday , almost a year after the previous one
The attack, which targeted one of CloudFlare's customers, reached speeds approaching 400 Gigabits per second , as the company's CEO Matthew Prince revealed to PCMag.com.
By comparison, last year's attack on The Spamhaus Project , which held the record for the most severe, reached data rates of 300 Gbps. A typical DDoS attack has a rate of around 50 Gbps.
Due to the scale of the attack, entire network was affected, Prince noted, without revealing which customer was targeted, other than that the servers were located in Europe.
However, experts are concerned and warn that until the situation on the servers affected by the attack normalizes , there will be new attacks.
