Huge mobile phone scam

XEIROPEDES_641_355

A 38-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman have committed a sophisticated fraud. They managed to earn around 100,000 euros through expensive mobile phones.

Using fake Greek and Cypriot IDs, the two perpetrators bought cheap prepaid phones and then changed their connection to a fixed-rate package that included a free phone worth 300 and 400 euros.

So far, it has been determined that 139 mobile phone connections had been activated using the same methodology and the damage caused exceeds 100,000 euros.

In fact, as it turned out, this is not the first time that the two perpetrators have fallen into the hands of the police. The 38-year-old man and the 43-year-old woman were arrested in December 2012 by police officers from the West Attica Security Sub-Directorate and a case had been filed against them for similar offenses.
