Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, during the presentation of the company's new technologies at CES 2014, among others - to mention Intel RealSense, Edison and Quark - also mentioned McAfee, and the security suites it offers. Intel wants McAfee's technology to reach as many devices as possible. And how is this possible? By offering it for free!
More specifically, Mr. Krzanich (you can see his presentation in the video below), that Intel will change - finally we say - the name of McAfee services to Intel Security and most importantly? It will offer them for free, at least for mobile device platforms (Android, etc.) As is known, Intel acquired McAfee for… 7.68 billion dollars in 2010 (yes, yes, we know what you are thinking and we understand you… it would buy Nokia and HTC together today, we know that).
Intel did not provide any details on when the transition will take place, or which products Mr. Krzanich was referring to, but we will know more soon. The company will certainly change its logo - replacing the word McAfee - but will keep the characteristic shield (without the "M" we imagine).
