New variant of Mouabad malware can make phone calls from your Android phone

We already know that there are Android malware that are able to generate financial profits for cybercriminals by sending SMS to subscriber numbers.

A new variant of the Android mobile malware ‘Mouabad’ was detected by the company “Lookout”, which allows online criminals to make phone calls from infected devices, without user intervention.

However, the malware can be easily detected by simply looking at the call history, as the malware is not designed to delete call logs.

Fortunately, the malicious software works only on older Android versions, from version 3.1 and earlier. Thus, those with recent versions do not need to worry.
