ANZ Bank has mistakenly sent bank statements of several customers to a 2-year-old boy after his mother requested information about her own spending.
Stacey Morrison was shocked to see that in addition to her son's account statement, she had also received other people's. In addition to contacting the financial institution, which asked her to return the documents, she also contacted subordinates.
Many of the customers are very disappointed with the bank and one of them even pointed out that the financial institution should cease its operations.
Morrison's son only has about $200 (€145) in his savings account, but some of those whose accounts were exposed have hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Bank officials have said they are still investigating the incident. Initial indications point to a “printer error.” They are confident it was an isolated incident. However, Morrison, who calls it a “horrific breach of privacy,” is not so sure.
ANZ assured its customers that the exposed information could not be used to breach their savings account.
