D-Link has released new, upgraded firmware for the following vulnerable router models: DI-524, DI-524UP, DIR-100 and DIR-120.
As security researchers pointed out , the routers contained a critical backdoor bug, the exploitation of which could allow malicious users to gain control of the device.
The list of vulnerable routers also includes the DI-604S, DI-604UP, DI-604 +, TM-G524 and possibly some versions of the DIR-615.
According to a statement issued by D-Link, users are advised to be especially wary of deceptive emails that attempt to exploit this vulnerability. The company draws attention, emphasizing that it never sends emails to its customers asking them to follow a link or install anything.
