Despite Microsoft's persistent efforts to convince users that sticking with Windows XP after support ends is too risky, the operating system has not lost any of its popularity.
And while the company continues its campaign to push users away from Windows XP to a newer platform, new statistics from Net Applications for the month of November show that the 12-year-old operating system continues to remain in second place among the world's leading operating systems.
Windows 7 is the undisputed leader in the OS industry, with a 46.64 percent share, followed by Windows XP with 31.22 percent. Windows 8 holds just 6.66 percent of the global market share.
Microsoft constantly points out the security risks posed by users staying on Windows XP, yet only 0.02 percent of users decided to abandon their beloved operating system and use a newer version.
