T-Mobile: Satellite Connectivity in Canada and New Zealand

Satellite connectivity via Starlink is now available for T-Mobile users traveling in Canada and New Zealand. T-Mobile users previously had access to cellular connectivity through roaming agreements in the two countries, but now T-Satellite satellite connectivity is included . Satellite coverage in Canada is powered by Rogers Satellite , while in New Zealand it is provided by One NZ .

Both Rogers and One NZ have agreements with SpaceX's Starlink provider.

T-Mobile updated its website last week to list satellite roaming. The company says support for other locations will come in the future. T-Mobile is working with global roaming partners and SpaceX to expand T-Satellite.

T-Satellite is available to T-Mobile subscribers in the continental U.S., Puerto Rico, Hawaii and parts of southern Alaska. It is also now available in Canada and New Zealand, with a coverage map available on T-Mobile's website.

Rogers and One NZ customers can also use T-Satellite when traveling to the United States as part of the new partnership.

T-Mobile's satellite connectivity launched in July 2025, after several months of beta testing, and is compatible with the iPhone 13 and later .In October 2025, T-Mobile added support for using satellite data with certain third-party apps, an option not available with Apple's satellite feature on the iPhone 14 (and later).

Like Apple's satellite option, T-Satellite kicks in when users don't have Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity. It requires a clear view of the sky to establish connectivity, but you don't have to hold your iPhone up to the sky to connect.

T-Satellite works on iPhones and can be used alongside physical satellite connectivity. The satellite service is included with T-Mobile's Experience Beyond plans and costs $10 per line for other T-Mobile plans.

Smartphone users without T-Mobile service can sign up for T-Satellite for $10 per month.

Meaning of expansion

T-Mobile’s expansion of satellite connectivity to international markets such as Canada and New Zealand is a significant step towards a new era of telecommunications, where network access will no longer be limited solely by terrestrial infrastructure. The partnership with Starlink and the opening of the service through strategic roaming agreements show how satellite communication is evolving from an emergency solution to an increasingly practical everyday connectivity, especially for travelers and users in remote areas.

At the same time, the ability to leverage satellite data in conventional applications, combined with compatibility with modern devices such as iPhones, demonstrates that the technology is maturing quickly and gaining a real competitive advantage. If T-Mobile continues to expand coverage and enhance the capabilities of the service, T-Satellite could shape new connectivity standards worldwide, transforming satellite access from a specialized service to a key element of mobile communication of the future.
