Two months after raising $7 million in funding in an effort to create an improved version of Android , CyanogenMod has released an app installer on Google Play.
Installation requires connecting the device to a Windows PC via a USB cable.
“Our goal for the installer is to enable more users to experience the benefits of CyanogenMod, without the hassle of complicated technical instructions and the creation of intractable questions that could arise during the process,” said Steve Kondik, co-founder of Cyanogen, in an email.
Cyanogen has attracted more than eight million users by enhancing Android's capabilities and bringing new features that manufacturers don't provide to the public.
The company's immediate goal is to become the third most popular OS after Android and iOS, although it acknowledges that previous attempts to install the product were a deterrent for the user.
This time, the company's managers hope that they have managed to appeal to the average user.
You can find CyanogenMod on the Google Play Store.
