Poco asubsidiary of Xiaomi, has introduced its new X8 series of smartphones, with the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max clearly targeting the value-for-money. With impressive technical specifications, large new-generation batteries and competitive pricing, the devices aspire to shake up the waters even against strong rivals such as the Pixel 10A.

The standout feature is the use of silicon-carbon batteries, a technology that is gaining ground thanks to its increased energy density. The X8 Pro Max packs a massive 8,500mAh battery, while in some markets, like India, the capacity reaches up to 9,000mAh.
In practice, this translates into a battery life that can reach two or even three days of use, depending on the consumption profile. Despite the large battery size, the device is quite thin, just 8.2 mm, which indicates a significant advance in design.

However, the smaller size also comes with a significant reduction in battery capacity, which drops to 6,500mAh. While still large compared to the competition, it probably doesn't quite reach the two-day battery life of the Pro Max.

One of the most unique elements of the new series is the discreet RGB lighting. Each camera on the back is surrounded by small LED light rings, which are activated for notifications, calls, music or even gaming situations in titles like PUBG and Call of Duty.

On the contrary, durability is a strong advantage, with IP69K certification offering a high level of protection against water and dust, something rare in the category.
