According to new information, Facebook is actively participating in the game to acquire BlackBerry, as the two companies reportedly met last week to discuss a potential acquisition deal.
According to the Wall Street Journal, both companies declined to make any statement on the matter, so it is unclear whether Facebook is still interested in submitting a takeover bid after the meeting in question.
BlackBerry has already accepted a $4.7 billion takeover bid from Canadian consortium Fairfax Financial, which is expected to close in early November, unless there are other alternative and more advantageous offers.
Several companies have expressed interest in acquiring BlackBerry, including Lenovo and the company's former CEO Mike Lazaridis.
