The Pope has reached 10 million followers on Twitter

The head of the Roman Catholic church thanked those who "follow" him on the social network with a message.

Pope Francis has reached 10 million followers on Twitter, and for this reason he posted a message on Sunday, sincerely thanking those who "follow" him on the social network.

The first non-European head of the Roman Catholic Church in 1,300 years has tripled his number of followers since he succeeded Pope Benedict XVI last March, now surpassing several famous Twitter profiles, such as the New York Times.

However, he still falls short of well-known singers, such as Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, who have over 40 million followers.
