In case you are struggling to keep spammers away from your Drupal website, Spam Blackhole is an application worth trying.
The application is designed to block entries made by spam bots by sending them to a non-existent domain, or a “blackhole.”
Blackhole Spam uses JavaScript to replace the form URL with a dummy URL. When real users submit entries, the URL is replaced with the real URL by a JavaScript code. Since many spam are not designed to run JavaScript, their requests are sent to the blackhole.
Spam Blackhole is a very good tool for combating the phenomenon, not only because it can be highly effective, but also because it does not affect page load time.
To install Spam Blackhole, log in to your Drupal admin panel, go to the “Modules” section, and upload the application. Once installed, enable the application from the list of modules.
