Online scam exploits the name of a British telecommunications company

Security researchers are warning UK users of a new online campaign designed to distribute malware. The attacks are based on fake emails purporting to come from British telecommunications company Sky.

The fake emails inform users that their applications for registration to the company's services and packages have been approved.

The emails do not actually come from the Sky company, but have been created by cybercriminals to distribute a trojan.

Experts warn that the same malware is also being spread using fake MMS notifications, targeting owners of Samsung Galaxy Smartphones.

If you encounter similar emails, simply delete them. If you think you may have already been the victim of an attack, scan your computer with an up-to-date antivirus.
