As part of an initiative by the Ministry of Public Order and Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police Headquarters, a new series of workshops is being implemented by the Economic Police and Cybercrime Prosecution Service via videoconference in schools across the country, on safe internet navigation.

In particular, on Friday (11-10-2013), a conference was successfully held via videoconference for fifty (50) students of Amyntaio High School in Florina and the 6th High School in Ilios, Attica.

During the conference, the Deputy Director of the Economic Police and Cybercrime Prosecution Service, Brigadier General Emmanouil Sfakianakis, together with his colleagues, informed and spoke with students and school teachers on issues related to:

· The mission of the Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate

· The purpose of organizing teleconferences

· Crimes and the way they are committed online, as well as prevention practices

· On the phenomena of online violence, the dangers posed by social networking sites and in general the prevention and treatment of risks related to new technologies.

· Statistical data concerning the penetration of Greeks into the internet and the cases that the Cybercrime Prosecution Service is called upon to deal with.

The purpose of the workshops - teleconferences is to raise awareness among children, aged 5 to 18, and to inform them about the dangers of the internet, to learn more about ways to address the challenges of the digital world and to adapt to new data.

It is noted that schools wishing to participate in future workshops - teleconferences can send a request to the Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate (via fax to 2106476462 or via e-mail: ccu@cybercrimeunit.gov.gr, cybercrimeunit@hellenicpolice.gr) indicating the desired dates for the teleconference.

This specific initiative is supported by Vodafone and includes the new Microsoft 365 service.
