Orca Security makes strategic acquisition of Opus

Cloud data security solutions provider Orca Security announced Tuesday the acquisition of Opus Security , an Israeli startup that offers technology for orchestrating and remediating cloud security with the help of artificial intelligence.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Orca described the deal as an expansion of its technology capabilities beyond risk identification and prioritization to autonomous remediation and prevention based on artificial intelligence.

Opus, founded in 2022 with $10 million in seed funding from YL Ventures, has found success leveraging artificial intelligence in a platform that automates and orchestrates the cloud security remediation process.

Opus, founded by Meny Har and Or Gabay, former executives at Siemplify (which was acquired by Google Cloud in 2021), said its platform integrates with existing security tools and orchestrates the entire remediation process, covering all stakeholders and environments in the organization, based on easy-to-implement guidelines and playbooks.

For Orca, the plan is to integrate Opus’ technology to broadly automate risk detection, prioritization, and remediation for enterprise customers. Orca, which competes directly with Google’s Wiz in the cloud data security space , was recently valued at $1.8 billion after raising $210 million in Series C funding.

Orca has raised a total of $632 million from venture capital investors including GGV Capital, Temasek, Capital G, Redpoint Ventures and ICONIQ Capital.

Based on the above, it is clear that Orca Security is strategically strengthening its position in the competitive cloud data security space by investing in automation and artificial intelligence. The acquisition of Opus Security, an innovative startup focused on automated risk remediation, demonstrates Orca’s intention to expand its capabilities beyond simple threat, now offering a more comprehensive and proactive approach to security.
