Windows 11 updates KB5046617 and KB5046633 have just been released

Microsoft has released Windows 11 cumulative updates KB5046617 and KB5046633 for versions 24H2 and 23H2 to fix vulnerabilities and security issues.

Windows 11 updates

Both KB5046617 and KB5046633 are mandatory cumulative updates, as they contain the November 2024 Patch Tuesday security updates for vulnerabilities discovered in previous months.

Windows 11 users can install the updates by going to Start > Settings > Windows Update and clicking “Check for updates.” They can also manually download and install the update from the Microsoft Update.

After installing today's security updates, the build number of Windows 11 24H2 (KB5046617) will change to 26100.2314 and 23H2 (KB5046633) will change to 22631.4460.

Windows 11 24H2 is getting some much-needed fixes with today's patch. Microsoft fixed an issue that caused a black screen when using Alt-Tab to switch between apps and another where Task Manager incorrectly showed zero processes.

It is strongly recommended that Windows 11 users install updates KB5046617 and KB5046633 as soon as possible to fix four vulnerabilities that are actively exploited and are patched with the updates.
