Microsoft is using AI models to improve Windows search on new Copilot Plus PCs.
These improvements will make it easier to find and interact with images, emails, documents, and even videos. All of these AI-powered features will arrive on Copilot Plus PCs starting in November.
Improved Windows search will first appear in File Explorer on Copilot Plus computers. It will allow you to search for images using words, even if the search word is not in the photo or file name.

“Artificial intelligence search makes it much easier to find almost anything,” says Yusuf Mehdi, a Microsoft executive. “You no longer need to remember file names and document locations, or even specific word names. Windows will understand your intent and match it to the right document, image, file, or email.”
AI search will be available “in the coming months” in the Windows search interface and through the search box that appears in the “Settings” interface.
Additionally, Microsoft is leveraging the NPU chips in new Copilot Plus PCs to enable local search of OneDrive content, without having to connect to the internet.
Alongside Windows Search, Microsoft will also be rolling out Click to Do on Copilot Plus PCs, which is very similar to Google's Circle to Search feature.

“Click to Do understands everything you’ve seen on screen and activates useful shortcuts for actions that will help you search, learn, edit, shop, etc.,” Mehdi explains. “It works on any window, document, image, or even video.”
You could, for example, use Click to Do on a YouTube video you're watching to do a visual search on an item shown in the video, using Bing. Click to Do can also help with text-related actions, such as rewriting or summarizing documents, or annotating text and sending emails.

Microsoft will begin testing these new AI search features (and Click to Do) with Windows Insiderson Copilot Plus PCs. The rollout will begin in November.
