Hyundai Mobis obtains cybersecurity certification in Europe

Hyundai Mobis has become the first automotive parts supplier in Asia to obtain cybersecurity from the ENX Association.

According to the company, which is part of Hyundai Motor Group, the certification presentation event was held on Thursday at the technology research center in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, with the participation of representatives from the European Union.

The ENX Association includes leading automotive companies, such as BMW, Bosch, Daimler and Volkswagen.

Cybersecurity in the automotive sector aims to protect vehicle systems and networks through reliable technologies, in order to address various risks, such as external attacks and personal data leakage .

According to Hyundai Mobis, the cybersecurity certification confirms that the core products developed and manufactured by the Korean parts maker comply with European regulations for automotive cybersecurity, and it has established the necessary business processes and systems.

This certification covers various areas, including design, assessment, quality and product manufacturing, as well as post‑production management.

Hyundai Mobis established a dedicated cybersecurity organization in 2020, focused on promoting a cybersecurity management system .The importance of cybersecurity has increased as the amount of software and personal information in vehicles continues to increase.

“In the future automotive industry, often called smartphone on wheels’, the importance of cybersecurity is increasingly emerging,” said Cheon Jae-seung, head of Hyundai Mobis’ Future Technology Convergence Institute. “We will strengthen our capabilities to effectively respond to regulations and standards, not only in Europe, but also in other regions.”
