Explosions in Lebanon: How Mossad's "Unit 8200" is connected to Predator in Greece

The unprecedented terrorist attack using electronic devices such as pagers and walkie talkies in Lebanon, which was orchestrated by Israel, brings to the fore the elite Mossad unit “8200”, which apparently helped to trap the devices of Hezbollah members and civilians. In fact, it is the same unit that also played a role in the wiretapping scandal in Greece, as Documento has brought to light. Specifically, officers of the “8200” unit seem to have helped spread Predator in Greece, as revealed by the journalist and publisher of Documento, Costas Vaxevanis, as in July 2021 a former captain of UNIT 81 came to Athens as an officer of Intellexa – which was established in March 2020 – and the system became fully operational.

In particular, the thread begins to unravel when the wiretapping scandal in Greece with “Predator” broke out. Predator is a malicious software that is linked to the company Intellexa , which in turn is linked to the Maximos Mansion. Events that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis tried to present from a different… perspective in order to create the impression that anyone who wants to monitor citizens or even state officials could be hiding behind.

In reality, Intellexa is a spy, which was built on the model of the secret units "UNIT 81" and "UNIT 8200" of the Israeli secret services by former executives and contacts with a closed circle of the EYP and they complement each other in monitoring targets.

In practice, since 2019, a spy network has been operating in Greece that, in addition to serving third-party purposes (always against the country's security rules), also served the Greek government's surveillance needs.

In the early 2010s, Israeli-owned cybersecurity companies emerged. Their founders and executives were former Israeli agents who worked on electronic espionage. These companies appeared to have created software that would serve state security and counterterrorism.

It was soon revealed that one of the companies, NSO, which had created the Pegasus software, was actually selling governments, agencies and individuals the ability to monitor dissidents or undesirable individuals. Pegasus included politicians, journalists, activists and dissidents.

NSO, during its expansion, acquired the company of Israeli Tal Dilian. Dilian was a member of the elite and secret war group Sayeret Matkal. Israeli prime ministers Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu served in the same group. Dilian, after Sayeret Matkal, served in UNIT 81.

This is a secret technology and electronic surveillance department of the Israeli army. It was not so much concerned with collecting military intelligence as with collecting information that could be used to sway political figures towards specific choices through blackmail. Sensitive data and personal secrets of Palestinian officials were used to blackmail them and to advocate for specific decisions that the Israeli.

The methods of this unit, like the corresponding UNIT 8200, were "privatized" and companies like NSO offered their services to governments. According to foreign analysts, the method of extortion was heavily used in Mexico through material recorded by the company.

When NSO and the Pegasus were exposed, a new phone surveillance software appeared. It is Predator, manufactured by Tal Dilian's company Intellexa. Dilian appeared in Cyprus, from where, after establishing relations with the ruling party, the Democratic Rally (DISY), he began surveillance in Cyprus. In November 2019, Dilian's team was arrested at Larnaca airport while collecting data . The case was covered up by the Cypriot authorities and Dilian looked for a European country to establish his company's headquarters. Through personal relations with the Maximos Mansion, Tal Dilian established the company Intellexa SA in Greece in March 2020.

Intellexa opens luxurious offices in Greece. The company's administrator is Dillian's ex-wife Sarah Alexandra Hamou, who lives in Cyprus. From the parent company of the Greek Intellexa, the setup of the network, which will soon become a spy network, is undertaken by Eyman Semana and Isaac Rudy. They make the agreements with the "interested" Greeks and select the personnel. To organize the operational operation of the Predator system, Barry Lavi Yarden arrives in Greece in 2020 and Erez Ofir in July 2021. The latter is neither a random nor an unknown person. He is a former captain of UNIT 81, the secret electronic espionage group.

Upon his arrival in Greece, Erez publishes on his Linkedin profile that he works for a “secret cybersecurity company.” The fact that a company linked to foreign agents is operating in Athens would be expected to raise alarms in the EYP and the Greek government. Not only does this not happen, but the company’s people have excellent relations with Maximos agents, to whom they advertise the capabilities of the Predator system.
