Hackers are targeting Donald Trump 's digital trading cards , using phishing sites, fake domains, and social engineering to steal sensitive data.
They create fake URLs that mimic the official website, trying to scam collectors.
Since their release, the former president's digital trading cards have attracted a lot of attention among collectors and supporters, offering unique digital assets and real-world experiences. According to cybersecurity Veriti, malicious actors are exploiting phishing sites and fake domains to trick users into revealing sensitive information or installing malware.

An example of a fake domain is trumpdigitaltradingcards/.xyz, which mimics the official URL (collecttrumpcards/.com), but with minor differences. Another fake website, associated with the Democratic Party, appeared under the domain collecttrunpcards/.com, where the “N” replaces the “M” in “Trump.”.
But how do these scams work?
Hackers are using traditional phishing tactics, such as email phishing and domain spoofing, to trap victims. Email phishing involves sending emails that appear to come from legitimate sources, promoting limited-time offers for Trump digital cards. These cards often contain malicious links that lead to phishing sites.
“Hackers are exploiting transaction cards to satisfy users’ curiosity and desire to acquire them,” Veriti said in its report, which was shared with Hackread.com ahead of its official publication on Tuesday. “The scams range from fake websites that look almost like the official ones to more traditional phishing emails promising deals.”.
This isn't the first time this has happened
This is not the first time that Donald Trump has been used as bait for cybercrime ,with his supporters often becoming targets for financial scams. In July of this year, scammers managed to steal donations from his supporters by creating fake and malicious websites.
In another case, hackers used a fake story about an assassination attempt on Trump to extort cryptocurrency from his supporters. In January 2021, a phishing video link related to his election campaign was found to be distributing the QNode RAT malware.
