Meta 's Horizon Worlds " metaverse " platform is finally set to launch in all countries where the Quest headset is sold.
Currently, Horizon Worlds is only available in the US, Canada, UK, France, Spain, Ireland and Iceland. Now, the platform is expanding to the remaining Quest-supported countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden, South Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan.

Meta says this “expansion” will begin this week and will take “a few months” to complete, so it could be a while before users in these new countries actually get access.
The app is available for users aged 13 and over in most countries, with the exception of Spain and South Korea, where the minimum age is 14.
Over the past year, Horizon Worlds has undergone significant changes that make it a completely different platform than it was a few years ago.
Initially, all worlds were created in VR using primitive shapes and an in-VR visual scripting system. Today, however, the top worlds are built by professional game studios using traditional scripting and 3D asset creation methods.
Some worlds are now also available on phones via the Meta Quest app , as well as on the web

The platform's avatars now have legs, resolving the problem that previously caused widespread ridicule.
By February, Horizon Worlds had risen to become one of the top 10 most popular apps on the Quest Store in the US and has held that position ever since. This achievement is a significant upgrade for a platform that in 2022, according to Meta’s own statement, “hadn’t found the right product for the market.” A global launch could further accelerate this newfound success.
Despite being in the top 10, the platform remains less popular than its main competitors, Rec Room, VRChat, and Roblox. This is despite Meta's efforts to integrate it into the Quest software system.
