The RCS or Rich Communication Services protocol is coming to iPhones in the fall of 2024, according to a new announcement from Google. This is a significant addition, mainly due to the quality of cross-platform messaging, when using the default messaging apps on iPhone and Android.
RCS Messaging is a technology developed to replace traditional SMS and MMS messages with a richer and more interactive form of communication. It offers many of the features you'll find in messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, such as the ability to send high-resolution photos and videos, group messaging, and message delivery notifications.
In late 2023, Apple announced that iMessage would start supporting RCS messaging sometime in 2024. We haven't heard anything since. However, on the second product page for Google Messages, Google mentions the benefits of RCS in iMessage on the iPhone, when it starts supporting it in the fall of 2024. While we don't have an exact release date yet, this information is more specific than Apple's previous announcement.

“ Apple announced that it will adopt RCS in the fall of 2024. Once that happens, it will mean a better messaging experience for everyone ,” the Google Messages website states , regarding RCS on iPhone.
What features will RCS bring to the iPhone?
RCS has been a part of the Android for quite some time. Many users have requested support for the communication protocol on the iPhone as well, as until now the protocols SMS and MMS to send messages (from iPhones) to non-Apple devices.

Due to the old technology, there may be issues when sending messages from iPhone to Android device.
